Bidding to defeat Cary for the second consecutive game, the Carolina Dynamo surrendered three unanswered goals in the second half and fell 4-2 Saturday at WakeMed Soccer Park.

“We kind of just collapsed,” assistant coach Matt Brown said. “There was no character mentally. Nobody stepped up and took the team over. It was kind of like they just let it happen.”

Cody Arnoux and Kirk Urso scored for Carolina, which fell to 6-3-1. The Dynamo host Central Florida on Friday and Atlanta on Saturday at Macpherson Stadium. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.

WOMEN LOSE 2-1: Taylor Rovito scored the Dynamo’s lone goal in the 65th minute off an assist from Hailey Beam, but Hampton Roads scored the winner in the 82nd minute. The Dynamo, which hosts West Virginia at 5:30 Friday, fell to 2-5-1.
